Comprehensive Eye Examinations

Yearly eye examinations are recommended for most children and adults to monitor any changes that may occur in the eye and surrounding structures. Our Doctors utilize the latest technology to diagnose any eye irregularities. Many conditions that affect the eye are treatable with little resultant damage to the eye if discovered and treated early. In adults, these conditions can include diabetes, high blood pressure, macular degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts. In children, changes to their vision can occur rapidly and can directly affect school performance. In patients of all ages, working with computers can result in eye fatigue, eyestrain or frequent headaches.

In addition to checking for any eye problems, the examination provides the doctor with the necessary measurements to calculate the proper prescription for your eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Frames

Frames can say a lot about a person! These days, glasses can be both fashionable and functional, all at the same time! Once your eye exam is complete, the doctor takes you to our optician and explains the exact requirements he feels will optimize your visual needs. From that point on, our optician will begin the process of frame and lens selection by asking about your needs, hobbies and lifestyle to guide you in the right direction. We have a wide selection of frames to choose: from the most basic to high style designer, sunglasses, sports and safety glasses.

Frames from Calvin Klein, Cadillac, Bebe , Burberry, Dior, Giorgio Armani, Kate Spade, Polo, Nine West are just a few of the designer offerings. All of our frames come with a one-year warranty. In many cases, if you find a frame elsewhere, we can order it for you.

Lenses

Our optician will discuss the various options available to you in terms of lens selection. We pride ourselves on the fact that we offer the latest lens technology to our patients. This allows us to offer the thinnest lightest specialty lenses available to make your final selection look its best and allow the sharpest vision. For children, we believe strongly in polycarbonate, shatter-resistant lenses. For adults, we offer only the highest quality premium progressive lenses including Zeiss, Hoya, Varilux and Definity, to name a few. Understanding the need for protection from the sun's rays, we advise our patients about the options available for total UV protection through polarized lenses. We offer prescription swim, safety and sports goggles.

We have an in-house laboratory, run by our Lab Manager, Eric Weinberg. He has been providing our patients with the highest quality work for more than 20 years. He prides himself on keeping abreast of the latest lenses trends available to the optical industry.

In some cases, we are able to make your glasses while you wait. When that is not possible, we will make every attempt to expedite your order. We can make a tracing of your current frame if you want to use it. In that way you can still have your glasses while we make the new lenses!! All of our prescription lenses go through at least two quality checks before they are dispensed to you.

In addition to our large selection of frames and sunglasses, we also offer some specialty glasses. Fitovers are polarized sunglasses that "fit over" your regular glasses. They provide excellent protection from the UV rays of the sun. Sunglass Clips are an excellent way to make any pair of glasses into a pair of sunglasses. We have a large selection of generic clips that we can fit to your existing frame.

Contact Lenses

The doctors at Catonsville Eye group are well known and respected for their expertise in fitting all types of contact lenses. After collecting the necessary measurements, our doctor will provide you with the best type of contact lens to optimize your vision and suit your lifestyle. A contact lens fitting includes the initial visit, trial lenses, thorough training from our qualified opticians and as many follow-up visits as deemed necessary by the doctor.

We offer a wide selection of specialty contact lens such as colored, bifocal, monovision , toric, gas permeable lenses, kerataconus and disposable lenses. Reordering lenses is as easy as ordering over the phone or through this website. (See contact us to order) We can even mail them directly to you! Can't get much easier than that!
